How to Research New Descendants

To research and unlock new Descendants, visit Anais at Albion HQ. Use the Research Institute to access the Descendant tab and select the character you want to unlock. Gather required materials like Enhanced Cells, Stabilizers, Spiral Catalysts, and Codes by completing missions, operations, and Colossi battles. Once you have all materials, start the research process and wait for it to complete.

To start researching new characters:

  1. Visit Anais at Albion HQ: Anais is located on the far side of HQ. She handles all research projects.
  2. Access the Research Institute: Talk to Anais to open the Research Institute. Here, you can choose the “Descendant” tab to see all available characters.
  3. Gather Materials: Each character requires unique materials to be unlocked.

Requirements for Research

Finding Research Materials

Locations and Missions

  • Enhanced Cells, Stabilizers, and Spiral Catalysts: Found in specific missions, operations, and Colossi battles.
  • Descendant Codes: Requires battling specific Colossi repeatedly.
  • Void Fragments: Needed for some Descendants and require specific element Descendants.

Tracking Materials

  • Highlight Materials: Highlight needed materials on the research page for acquisition info.
  • Access Info Tab: Use the “Access Info” tab in the Map menu for more details.
  • Enable Tracking: Enable tracking on a Descendant to get alerts on where to find materials.

Tips for Researching

Grinding for Materials

  • Some materials have low drop rates, requiring multiple attempts.
  • Specific Amorphous Materials may be necessary, which have their own drop rates.
  • Certain materials are only available late in the game, especially for Ultimate Descendants or story-related characters.

Saving Time

Research specific Descendant materials with less valuable resources to save time. Once you collect all materials, you’ll wait hours or days for the project to complete, but you can research multiple projects at once.

Staying Focused

Researching Descendants is time-consuming. Focus on one at a time to avoid feeling overwhelmed.

Unlocking characters in The First Descendant adds depth and excitement to your gameplay. Follow this guide to research and unlock all Descendants, making the most of your adventure.
