How to Change Your Name in Games (Quick Guide)

Changing your in-game name is a common need for many players. Whether you want a fresh start, made a mistake during signup, or just want something cooler, most games offer a way to rename your character. However, the process and requirements vary from game to game.

Some games allow free name changes, while others require in-game currency like UC, Diamonds, or Robux. A few games also have cooldowns, limiting how often you can change your name.

To make things easier, we’ve created a quick guide for popular games like PUBG Mobile, Free Fire, Fortnite, Call of Duty Mobile, and more. Use the quick navigation below to jump directly to your game and follow the simple steps to update your name.

How to Change Your Name in PUBG Mobile?

To change your name in PUBG Mobile, go to the Inventory and find the Rename Card. If you don’t have one, you can buy it for 180 UC. Use the card, enter your new name, and confirm. If the change doesn’t apply immediately, restart the game. You can only rename yourself once per day, so choose wisely.

How to Change Your Name in Free Fire?

To change your name in Free Fire or Free Fire Max, open the game and go to your Profile. Tap the Edit (yellow notebook) icon next to your name. Make sure you have at least 390 Diamonds, as this is required for the name change. Enter your new name, confirm the change, and you’re all set.

How to Change Your Name in Fortnite?

To change your Fortnite name on Nintendo Switch, Windows, or Mac, you’ll need to do it through the Epic Games website. Log in, click your username in the top right, and go to Account. In the General tab, find your current display name and click the Edit (blue pencil icon). Enter your new name, confirm the change, and you’re done! Keep in mind, you can only change your name once every two weeks, and this method won’t work for mobile players.

For console players (PlayStation & Xbox), your Fortnite name is linked to your console account, not Epic Games. To change it, update your display name through your console settings instead.

How to Change Your Name in Call of Duty Mobile?

To change your name in Call of Duty: Mobile, you’ll need a Rename Card, which costs 500 COD Points. Names can be changed once every three days. If your name was changed by the game and you received a free Rename Card, you’ll still have to wait three days before changing it again.

To update your name, tap your Name at the top of the main screen, go to your Player Profile (second tab), and tap the Edit icon next to your name. Enter your new name and confirm the change. If you don’t have a Rename Card, you’ll be prompted to purchase one during the process.

How to Change Your Name in Roblox?

You can change your Roblox display name for free in the account settings. This is different from changing your username.

To update your display name, log into your account and go to Settings. On a browser, click the gear icon in the top-right corner. On mobile, tap the three dots (More). Then, select Account Info, tap the Change Display Name button (pencil and paper icon), enter your new name, and click Save. Refresh the page to see the update.

Keep in mind that you can only change your display name once every seven days, and it must follow Roblox Community Rules. Unlike usernames, display names are not unique, meaning multiple players can have the same name.
