Finish The Silver Crow Chapter 2 (The Moon and Iron) fast – follow the priest, confront Hans, and escape the burning watermill, including the hidden achievement.

Chapter 2 has four main tasks, in this order:

1. Follow the priest to the watermill at midnight
2. Confront Hans and hear what really happened to the painter
3. Watch the witch hunter’s betrayal unfold
4. Escape the burning watermill

It takes about 15–20 minutes and has 1 hidden achievement, flagged below at the exact moment you’d miss it.

1. Follow the Priest

1. Hide behind the church and wait for midnight.
2. Follow the priest through the city gates, the forest, the fields, and deeper into the forest, until he reaches a watermill.
3. Watch him deliver bread to Hans, who’s been hiding there.

2. Confront Hans

Enter the watermill and talk to Hans. He tells you what actually happened the night the painter died:

• The painter got drunk and stared at Kaspar’s painting.
• He stumbled up the stairs, tripped, and fell through the railing.
• He hit his head and died – it was an accident, not a murder.

Hans has no idea about the pentagram, feathers, or candles – none of that was there when he fled the scene, so he can’t explain it.

3. The Witch Hunter’s Betrayal

The witch hunter shows up – he followed you here – and kills Hans.

This is the twist: the witch hunter staged the entire crime scene himself (the feathers, the pentagram, the candles). He then sets the watermill on fire and locks you inside.

4. Escape the Burning Watermill

1. Pick up the rope from the bag on the floor.
2. Try the rope on the window – it’s too short on its own.
3. A hooded woman appears and gives you a second rope – also too short alone. Hidden Achievement: Before combining the ropes, try placing each one on the window and the door separately. Do this now – you can’t go back for it once you combine them.
4. Combine both ropes in your inventory.
5. Attach the long rope to the lever and pull it. The door breaks open and you escape.
