How Does Inventory Work?
You start the game with 50 inventory slots. There is no weight limit — every item takes one slot, whether it’s a giant two-handed sword or a tiny butterfly. Stackable items like crafting materials and food stack up to 50 per slot, so those are fine. But weapons, armor, and collectibles each take one full slot.
The only way to get more space is by collecting Inventory Bags. There are three types:

How to Increase Inventory Slots in Crimson Desert

Method-1: Buy Small Bags from Vendors (Fastest)
The quickest way to get more slots early on is to buy Small Bags from vendors. They cost just 50 Copper each and instantly add one slot.
Each vendor only sells one bag, so visit every vendor you find. In and around Hernand town, look for these shops:
- Rhett’s Equipment Shop
- Alden’s Provisioner’s Shop
- Bran’s Tannery
- Delkin’s Grocer’s Shop
- Renee’s Butchery
- Grimrak’s Back Alley Shop
- Alfred’s Confessional
Tip: Check your map’s Environment tab for “?” markers — these often reveal new vendors with more bags to buy.
Method-2: Complete Quests for Medium Bags (Best Value)
Medium Bags give +3 slots and come free as quest rewards. This is the most efficient method over time.
Where to find these quests:
- Open your Journal → Faction Quests tab
- Hover over a quest to see its reward on the right side
- If it shows “Medium Bag” as a reward, it’s worth doing first
Commission quests at town notice boards (especially in Hernand) are a great source. There are 63 Hernand Commissions alone — that’s potentially 189 free inventory slots just from this one area.
Method-3: Greymane Camp Commissions (Most Slots Overall)
Once you reach Chapter 3 and set up your camp at Howling Hill, your Greymane companions will start giving you their own commission quests.
- Your comrade Marius asks you to find Greymane survivors
- Survivors move to your camp and give you tasks (bringing items, delivering messages, etc.)
- There are 27 Greymane Commissions, each rewarding a Medium Bag
- That’s up to +81 inventory slots just from camp quests
Find these under: Journal → Faction Quests → Greymane → Greymane Commissions
Method-4: Large Bags from Story Milestones
Large Bags give +5 slots and are tied to specific story moments. You can’t grind for them — they come automatically as you progress.
Known Large Bag rewards:
- Chapter 3: Unlock Damiane as a playable character
- Chapter 3: Complete the first Howling Hill camp expansion
- Chapter 7: Unlock Oongka as a playable character
Quick Tips for Managing Your Inventory
Sell, don’t hoard. If you’re not using it now, sell it. You can buy it back from a vendor within 7 in-game days.
Read recipe books immediately. After reading them, you can sell the physical book — it’s no longer needed.
Open money pouches and lockboxes. These take up slots. Interact with them to convert them into currency and free up space.
Complete side quests to clear quest items. Fliers and commission notes stay in your inventory until their quest is done. Finish the quest, then manually discard leftover items.
Use the Group button. Select an item and press Group to condense similar items into a sub-inventory column. It doesn’t reduce slot count, but it makes browsing much easier.
Don’t collect every plant and animal you see. Only pick up materials you actually need right now. Sell the rest.
Storage chest (coming later). At launch, there is no permanent stash system. A Private Storage chest was added with an update — it holds 240 items. During Chapters 1–2, it’s at the Freesword Encampment. From Chapter 3 onward, it moves permanently to Howling Hill Camp.
Priority Order (What to Do First)
- Visit every vendor in Hernand and nearby towns — buy their Small Bags right away
- Check the Hernand bulletin board and accept Commission quests that reward Medium Bags
- Progress the main story to reach Chapter 3 and unlock the Greymane Camp
- Do Greymane Commissions once camp is set up — this is where the big gains are
- Story milestones will reward Large Bags naturally as you play
